{"id":11601,"date":"2016-08-01T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-01T07:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ismaelmartin.com\/preparing-for-the-euro-connection-2017-co-production-forum\/"},"modified":"2016-08-01T09:30:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-01T07:30:00","slug":"preparing-for-the-euro-connection-2017-co-production-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ismaelmartin.com\/en\/preparing-for-the-euro-connection-2017-co-production-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Preparing for the Euro Connection 2017 co-production forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Update 2016-09-01<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The call for entries is now open and updated on the <strong>Clermont-Ferrand Market<\/strong> website, where you can download the registration form: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clermont-filmfest.com\/index.php?m=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.clermont-filmfest.com\/index.php?m=46<\/a> and send it with all documentation to the email <a href=\"mailto:ismael@madridencorto.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ismael@madridencorto.es<\/a><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last week, we confirmed our country&#8217;s participation for another year in the international co-production forum of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clermont-filmfest.com\/index.php?m=160\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market<\/a>, <strong>Euro Connection 2017<\/strong>, which I mentioned a year ago and for which we serve as national coordinators through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madridencorto.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Madrid en corto<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>We now know the new dates for the selection process<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The call for projects will open on <strong>September 1<\/strong>, and projects must be sent to the email <strong>ismael@madridencorto.es<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The deadline for project submission will be <strong>October 20<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The final deadline to announce the selected projects, after the European-level selection process, will be <strong>November 22<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>figures for this forum give us an idea of its importance<\/strong> in the international co-production of short films at a European level:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>In 2016, there were 168 participants from 28 countries.<\/li>\n<li>75 one-to-one meetings were organized.<\/li>\n<li>95% of participants rated it with a 4 (on a scale of 1 to 5).<\/li>\n<li>100% of participants wish to return for the next edition.<\/li>\n<li>67 short films from submitted projects have been completed, 32 of which were co-productions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Let&#8217;s review the main requirements for a project to participate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Short film projects up to 40 min. of any genre (fiction, animation, and creative documentary)<\/li>\n<li>Part of the funding must be secured. In addition to the production company&#8217;s own resources, a portion of the funding must come from outside the producer (public or private aid, crowdfunding, etc.). There is no maximum limit for this contribution.  <\/li>\n<li>The project cannot be filmed before May 2017.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Projects must be submitted in English, although for the <strong>first phase<\/strong> it is not necessary. However, if selected, the final project must be sent in English within a few days, so it is important to have it prepared in advance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The<\/strong> <strong>selection process has two stages<\/strong>: <strong>a first stage organized by us in Spain<\/strong>, where registered projects are collected and a jury selects a single project from those submitted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This project is sent to <strong>a second selection process at a European level<\/strong>, with another jury, which chooses the 16 final projects that will be part of the forum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the case of producers selected at the national level but not chosen for the forum, the <strong>Euro Connection<\/strong> organization invites them to attend the pitchings and offers them the opportunity to present themselves to all invited producers from each country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The registration form will be available on the <strong>Euro Connection website<\/strong> starting in September: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clermont-filmfest.com\/index.php?m=174\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.clermont-filmfest.com\/index.php?m=174<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first year we participated in the forum, in 2015, <strong>Palabras de Caramelo<\/strong> (produced by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.makingdoc.com\/#&#038;panel1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Making Doc<\/a>) took part. It was one of the most highly rated projects and recently premiered at the <strong>Madrid Community Short Film Week<\/strong> last April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We look forward to your projects this year, which you can start preparing now.
