Hi,

I’m Ismael Martin.

I have been distributing short films and documentaries at festivals since 2003.

I started working in the distribution office at ECAM. Most of my time was spent doing what nobody wanted to do: filling out forms and reviewing regulations.

Over the years, I discovered that distribution was much more than sending films. It was strategy.

During my time at ECAM, I participated in projects such as Madrid en corto, from which we distributed the first Tadeo Jones short film, Aquel no era yo by Esteban Crespo, and Madre by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, the latter two nominated for the Oscars.

In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, with everything I had learned, I launched Selected Films, a distribution company specialized exclusively in festivals.

But this blog was born earlier.

I started writing to share my work and because there was barely any information about festival distribution.

Today there are more than 450 published entries, and it has been a reference for many directors who have started in recent years.

You can subscribe to receive new posts. As soon as you confirm your email, you will receive a selection of the articles I consider essential to get started:

Distribution is not about sending films; it is about making good decisions and not giving up too soon.

See you inside.
