The last Monday of August brings news; after several days of testing, the new blog design is now published. This marks the third design change in four years. Since I changed the template in May, I have been more focused on content and publishing regularly every week. With this first objective accomplished, I worked on the design during the holidays.
Web design is one of the greatest challenges I have encountered in managing the blog. After evaluating different options, I finally chose the Metro Pro template with the Genesis Framework from StudioPress (I have been using WordPress from the beginning), which better suits the needs of a content-focused blog. In this case, it is not a free template like the ones I had been using until now, but the cost is worth it.
These are some of the main changes:
- Improved navigation through content via a main menu for accessing the primary categories and pages.
- Two-column structure: a main column with the latest published posts and another on the right with the search field, social media icons, and an improved subscription form. The design allows for easily adding new elements (widgets) to the sidebar, enabling simple changes in the future.
- Better organization of entries with the featured image and text.
- It is a design better adapted to mobile devices and tablets; it is responsive and uses the new HTML5 standard, improving searches and loading times.
I have also created a new distribution consulting page, following the advice of many of you.
In short, this was a necessary change to continue improving the blog and creating new content.
