Since I published the list of Fiction and Animation festivals ordered by deadline during the first week of this month, I have been meaning to do the same for the Documentary Academy Awards.
Over the past few weeks, I have finished completing this list, with the same characteristics as the previous one, ordered by the regular deadline date. Additionally, I have added the submission fees based on the deadline and converted them into Euros. In the case of documentary festivals, most have a submission fee, and it is necessary to plan the circuit well to optimize the distribution budget.
Many of these festivals have a maximum limit of 40 minutes, rather than 30, as is common in Fiction and Animation; furthermore, some of them also tend to admit mid-length films (short films up to 40 minutes and feature films from 41 minutes onwards).
These festivals include those specific to the documentary genre and others that, while being generalist, have a specific award for documentaries. This is the award that qualifies for the Academy Awards. To see the awards, you can download the original list from this link.
These days we are hearing news about new festivals accredited by the Hollywood Academy in Fiction and Documentary, but the official lists on their own website have not yet been updated. As I learn about them, I will update these lists while maintaining the same download link. The procedure will be the same for the Documentary festival list.
