Key Points of the 3rd Short Film Distribution Meeting

Everything is ready, tomorrow the third Short Film Distribution Meeting will take place, within the Professional Forum of the Madrid Community Short Film Week, which we have been preparing for several months and which has been very successful during these weeks.

The Short Film Distribution Meeting has several parts. On the one hand, we will start at 4:00 PM with the presentation of project pitches that are pending distribution or in post-production. The directors of the short films will attend these presentations to introduce themselves. In total, we will work on 7 projects:

  1. Lembranza, by Raúl Cerezo (pending release)
  2. La sierra, by Guillermo Alcalá-Santaella (in post-production)
  3. La comunión de la nena, by Juan Vicente Castillejo (pending release)
  4. Mother and Muse – the naked truth, by Christoph Rrottenwöhrer (pending release)
  5. Exhalación, by Paco Cavero (in post-production)
  6. Jaula, by David Oeo (pending release)
  7. ¡Feliz navidad!, by Eva Saiz (in post-production)

To explore the distribution possibilities for each of them, we have invited professionals from the distribution field:

  1. Sonia Pacios, from Festival Vitoria-Gasteiz Cortada
  2. Alicia Albares, from YAQ distribución
  3. Jonay Garcia, from Digital 104 disttribución
  4. Aitor Arenas, from Banatu Filmak
  5. Ismael Martin, from Madrid en corto

During these sessions we will explore the different distribution possibilities for each of them, and we will have the opportunity to learn the different perspectives of the committee in order to establish the initial strategy in the festival circuit.

Following this session, at 5:30 PM the Professional Presentations of different projects related to distribution will take place. These are very short presentations, about 3 minutes, where each representative will have the opportunity to present their project. We have 13 confirmed presentations:

After a coffee break, we will learn about a new short film market, the Torino Short Film Market, which held its first edition last November, and which is organized by the Italian Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio. We will have Jacopo Chessa, director of the CNC, as our guest, who will tell us about its operation and the new perspectives for the second edition.

After this presentation, and the Italy Panel, where we will learn about the possibilities for collaboration between Spain and Italy, we will conclude with the Programmers Meeting.

For this meeting we have invited three international programmers specialized in short films: Enrico Vanucci (Short Film Advisor at Venice), Tim Redford (general coordinator of the Clermont-Ferrand Festival), and Giuliana Sana (programmer at Sedicicorto). We will have the opportunity to learn about their programming approaches and see short film distribution from the perspective of programmers accustomed to viewing thousands of short films each year. This meeting will begin at 8:00 PM and will conclude an intensive afternoon dedicated to distribution.

All sessions of the Short Film Distribution Meeting will take place in the María Zambrano Hall of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, at Calle Alcalá, 42.

See you tomorrow!
